Extensions and New Garage - Herington Grove, Hutton Mount CM13

Large two storey extension and new detached garage, plus landscaping and gated entrance to this fantastic period home, within the prestigious Hutton Mount Estate. Our clients required more space for their growing family, but did not want to leave their home or the local area and schools. When attempting to add a large extension to a period property such as this it is essential to be sympathetic to the architectural style and overall balance of the original design, as a poorly thought-out extension can ruin the appearance and value of the property, and also result in planning permission being refused. A large two storey extension was achieved through adding a third bay in the same style as the existing, which provided a pleasing symmetry to the building and very much stays true to the Victorian style, with many visitors apparently not even noticing it to be an extension. The project increased the property’s floor area by around 60%, and more than doubled the size of the existing garage. Our clients are delighted that they can now stay in their home for the foreseeable future, and still have an authentic period home to be proud of. Humphreys and Sons produced all designs and gained planning permission, building regulations approval, party wall agreements and also obtained the necessary Hutton Mount Estate Association permissions, and also supervised the building works on site.
